Pugh on top at European Amateur

Rhys Pugh lays claim to European Amateur title in Ireland…
Wales’ Rhys Pugh held off countryman James Frazier to win the European Amateur Championships held at Dublin’s Carton House. Frazier took the lead into the last round bolster by a course record 62 on day 3; but his final round 71 was no enough to hold off the 18 year old who shot 66 en route to the title. Third place went to Denmark’s Thomas Soerensen.
With over 14,000 points up for grabs, the Open rankings are starting to get very tight. Ben Stow inched one step closer to Daan Huizing with his top 10 finish in Dublin. Frenchmen Paul Barjon and Adrien Saddier continue to hold down the 3rd and 4th position, while Robin Kind continued his steady play and made his way back on to the EGR homepage at number 5. Europe’s hottest golfer Moritz Lampert turned in another solid performance and is now up to 6th in the EGR Open rankings.
We will be getting all the U14 events up to date so stay tuned – lots to be decided!!
