England and Hallamshire’s Matthew Fitzpatrick played spectacular golf in the 36 hole final of the British Boys en route to a 10 and 8 victory over Wales’ Henry James. One week after Wales saw a 1-2 finish at the European Amateur Championship, James’ bid to bring home another title to Wales fell one man short. Fitzpatrick victory garnered him over 9000 points and moved him up to 21st in the EGR U18 Rankings. Hudderfield’s Nick Marsh continued his fine play in 2012 with a quarter final finish. His 6200+ points moved Marsh into the EGR U18 top 10. Austria’s Matthias Schwab, who just out missed out on winning the British Amateur, lost on the 23rd hole in the quarter finals to Elderslie’s Alasdair McDougall and moved into 3rd position of the EGR U18 rankings just ahead of North Foreland’s Max Orrin who made it through to the round of 16. Europe’s U18 Number 1, Kenny Subregis of France lost out in the 1st round but is still cemented atop the rankings.

At the Blackwell Golf Club in England, Europe’s elite U14 met to play for the Reid Trophy. Spain’s Inigo Lopez-Pizarro
finished 2 shots ahead of England’s Matty Lamb with Ireland’s Kevin LeBlanc and Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan finishing 3rd. Denmark’s John Axelsen is on top of the EGR U14 rankings, but with just 200 points seperating him from England’s Marco Penge, every shot will mean that much more for the rest of the season!!
