The U.S. took home the gold at the World Championships held in Belek, Turkey.

The Biannual Men’s World Amateur Team Championships, the Eisenhower Trophy, were held from October 4-7 in Belek, Turkey at the Antalya and Cornelia Golf Clubs. Turkey is a member of the European Golf Association, thus making the prestigious event part of the 2012 EGR schedule. Seventy-two teams from around the globe traveled to one of Europe’s top golfing destinations to determine which country would be the crowned World Champion. After heavy rain shortened the event to 54 holes, the United States proved too strong for the rest of the world and took home the gold with a 54 hole record setting 24 under par score of 404. Mexico finished second with 19 under par. Germany, Korea and France all finished at -15, but Germany took home the bronze based upon the best last round finish. Moritz Lampert anchored Team Germany with a 65 in the third round earning him 3rd place in the individual portion of the event. With over 15,000 points up for grabs, the event had a major impact on the EGR Open Rankings!!
