McCullen Hangs on at McEvoy...

Haydn McCullen the 17 year old from Delamere Forest won the 2014 McEvoy Trophy on the strength of a 5-under par 279 total. The scoring conditions were perfect on Day 1 and McCullen got off to a hot start with rounds of 66 and 69. With a third round of 70, McCullen only needed a 74 for a two stroke victory over the defending champion Bradley Moore of Keddleston Park. Moore fired rounds of 68, 71, 71 and 71. Scotland’s Ewen Ferguson of Bearsden, followed his victory at the Scottish Boys with a solid 3rd.
Europe’s U16 Number 1, Marco Penge of Worthing, finished 4th a shot better than Hexham’s Matty Lamb. Both players solidified their position in the EGR U16 Rankings.
The McEvoy Trophy is a fixture in the Spring and is like the Masters for the U.K.‘s top young players. This year’s field was full of the stars of tomorrow!
