Scotsman Grant Forrest beat his countryman and budding superstar Bradley Neil in a playoff to capture the St. Andrews Links Trophy. Both players finished on 278 (-10) one shot ahead of a trio of Englishmen, Daniel Wasteney, Paul Howard and Thomas Rowland, and the Italian Federico Zucchetti.

Forrest who attends San Diego University in the United States is currently ranked 23rd in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and looks to be one of the favorites for the upcoming Amateur Championships at Royal Portrush and Port Stewart in Norhern Ireland. Bradley Neil is currently ranked 43rd in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and with his second place finish moves ahead of Renato Paratore a top the EGR U18 Rankings.

In St. Leon-Rot, Germany, Nicklas Mattner shot a final round 66 to go along with a 69 and 70 to take the German Boys crown. Mattner finished ahead of second round leader John Axelsen of Denmark who was cruising to the title on the back nine until he made a triple bogey 6 on the par 3 16th. Axelsen birdie the final hole to pull within one, but it was too little too late. Norway’s Kristoffer Reiten continued his fine play and closed on 67 to tie for second with Axelsen. Europe’s U16 Number 1 Marco Penge of England, a member of the National Squad but devoted Italian football fan, finished 11th with rounds of 72, 70 and 70. Penge has a massive lead in the EGR U16 rankings but with over 19,000 points to play for in this weeks British Amateur, all doors are open!
