Neil on Top in Europe!

Scotland’s Bradley Neil won the 119th Amateur Championship at Royal Portrush beating South African Zander Lombard 2/1 over the 36 hole final.
With the victory, Neil earns a start in this years Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. He will also get an invitation to play in next year’s U.S. Open and Masters.
Neil who is know for his great ball striking showed great composure over the final match on what some players called the “toughest course they had ever played!”
With the victory, Neil earned 20,443.60 points to vault himself atop the EGR U18 and Open Rankings. His total of 54,447.10 has him over 17,000 points ahead of Paul Howard. Neil had just come off a disappointing loss in a play-off to fellow Scotsman Grant Forrest at the St. Andrew Links Trophy but that will all seem like a millions miles away now. Neil’s victory is no surprise to anyone in Europe. He has also had a 2nd place at the European Nations Cup and a 3rd at the Lytham Trophy this year.
It will be interested to see how he fairs against the world’s best players next month in Liverpool. Don’t put anything past this kid!
